Development of new pesticide application machinery

Pesticide application continues to develop as the issue of environmental contamination and pesticide residues in fresh produce remain high on the political agenda.

Modern farming practices rely on accurate and timely pesticide application to achieve the required control of weeds, pests and diseases with the minimum dose possible.

Developments in DRT (drift reducing technology) such as venturi nozzles and air assistance are recent examples. Boom design and suspension have also been developed in recent years with the move towards larger sprayers and faster forward speeds.

Key topic areas for sessions include:  

 

- Spray control systems

- Guidance, steering & patch spraying & variability rate applications (GPS)

- Equipment for targeted application of liquid, granules and pellets

- Monitoring sprayers in field conditions

- Nozzles for targeted application

- Water Framework Directive

Papers will be published as 1-page Abstracts and will be available at the conference. Please send your offer to the AAB office. (Email to Rebecca@aab.org.uk; Fax +44 (0)1789 470234). Alternatively, you can submit an offer online, giving the title of the paper, authors, affiliations and a short synopsis of your paper. Click on ABSTRACTS in the left hand column of the AAB home page, then click on the conference title. You can register your email and, after being sent a password, can upload your offer.
