DESCRIPTION:Supporting Healthy Diets with a Thriving UK Horticulture Sector\nVISIT EVENT WEBSITE \n\nJoin us for a dynamic one-day event dedicated to advancing sustainability in the edible horticulture sector. Hosted by The East Malling Trust and the Association of Applied Biologists (AAB)\, this conference almost uniquely we will bring together biologists\, nutritionists and sociologists to explore how horticulture can increase the quality of nutrition in the UK diet. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Expect! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe conference will showcase cutting-edge research and practical innovations across scientific and sociological aspects to bring more horticultural crops into the UK diet. \n\nSession 1 – UK Horticulture’s role in improving the quality of nutrition in the nation’s diet.\nSession 2 – Nutrition and Plant Science\nSession 3 – Bitesize Research supporting Horticulture and Healthy Diets\n Session 4 – How do we improve the UK diet with domestically grown produce?\nSession 5 – Investing in ourselves and the Horticultural sector\n\n\n\n\nConfirmed Speakers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n– Henry Dimbleby MBE – Author\, National Food Strategy and co-founder Bramble Investors \n– Prof. Cathie Martin\, John Innes Centre – ViTaL D and Biofortification in horticulture crops \n– Prof. Martin Warren – Chief Science Officer\, Quadram Institute \n– Dr Sven Batke\, Edge Hill University and Green Innovation Consortium – NHS\, Patient Care\, & Horticulture \n– Dr Eleftheria Stavidou\, Niab – Iron-enriched tomatoes in the UK and Consumer Acceptance and Willingness to Pay \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbstract Submission \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease submit an abstract to present your own research at this exciting event! \nAll early career professionals who have their abstract accepted will have their registration fee waived. Successful applicants will be invited to provide a short introduction to their poster (1-minute talk). Posters will be presented in the extended lunch-poster session.  \nECPs are anyone within 5 years of completing their final degree\, including career breaks. \nAbstract Submission deadline is September 15th 2026
