SUMMARY:Early Career Essentials for Applied Biologists
DESCRIPTION:VISIT EVENT WEBSITE\nThe membership of the Association of Applied Biologists includes a unique cohort of early career professionals. This group includes ECPs who work across academia\, industry\, farming and agriculture. This sets the AAB apart from other societies whose membership cohorts are more homogeneous. We surveyed the AAB ECPs and there was a consensus choice for AAB to organise an event that mixes opportunities to present their research and participate in workshops that discuss skills\, careers and other challenges/opportunities outside of research. \nSchedule Details \nThis two-day meeting is a mix of oral and poster presentations and workshop sessions.\nDay 1: October 20th 2026\nMeeting begins at 10am:\nKeynote talk\nDelegate short talks.\n– Lunch\nWorkshop- Shaping science policy: Understanding and Impacting the system\n– Break\nWorkshop- Careers Panel: Changing your focus within science\nPoster Session\nNetworking evening at local venue \nDay 2: October 21st 2026\nKeynote Talk\nDelegate short talks.\n– Break\nWorkshop – Creating inclusive teams: collaboration\, leadership\, and communication\nWorkshop- Building Resilience in and out of Research\n– Lunch\nWorkshop- Communicating your Science: Promotion and Publication \n\nSubmit an Abstract to present your research

DESCRIPTION:Register here\nThe AAB Virology specialist group are happy to present this webinar all ‘aabout’ Virology. \nFeaturing talks from:  \nProf. Svetlana Y. Folimonova (University of Florida\, USA):  \n“Citrus tristeza virus: Uncovering unusual molecular features of a complex RNA virus” \nDr. Svetlana Y. Folimonova received her PhD in Microbiology from Moscow State University\, Moscow\, Russia. She held a postdoctoral position at the S. R. Noble Foundation\, Ardmore\, Oklahoma and a postdoctoral position at the University of Florida\, Citrus Research and Education Center\, Lake Alfred\, Florida. Dr. Folimonova was appointed Assistant Professor of Plant Pathology at the University of Florida\, Gainesville\, Florida\, in 2012. In 2016\, she was promoted to Associate Professor\, and\, in 2022 – to Professor. Dr. Folimonova’s research program focuses on viral and bacterial pathogens of citrus\, with the main emphasis on Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) and Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus\, a causal agent of citrus greening [Huanglongbing (HLB)]. Her primary research effort is concentrated on understanding the mechanisms of the infection process\, host responses to the pathogens\, and developing management strategies for these diseases. In 2020\, Dr. Folimonova received a prestigious Syngenta Crop Protection Award from the American Phytopathological Society for her contributions to research on CTV and\, specifically\, for the elucidation of the mechanism of the CTV superinfection exclusion and for the research accomplishments on the development of the CTV-based vectors for expression of antimicrobial proteins for management of citrus greening.
