Association of Applied Biologists 1904-2004:
A Celebration of Achievement
This 112-page book was compiled by Allen Langton, Carol Millman and Alwyn Thompson with a foreword by Lord May (President of the Royal Society), and contains a reciprocated message to the Association from Her Majesty the Queen, and also many coloured illustrations.
With seven chapters entitled A Brief History, Objects and Aspirations, The Changing Problems of Applied Biology, From Printing Press to CD-ROM, Managing the Association, Scientific Interactions and The Way Ahead and 19 invited illustrated cameos.
In addition there are appendices recording the Officers of the Association over the past 100 years and the Association’s publications, the booklet provides a fascinating, unique insight into the development of the AAB – one of the six oldest biological science, learned societies in the UK – and many of the personalities who have featured prominently throughout the Association’s first 100 years.
The booklet will certainly be treasured amongst the archives associated with the development of UK science.
